To celebrate my joy of the Devils advancing, here is a great picture of Kovalchuk and Parise.
I am writing to express my disappointment in ESPN’s disregard for the tragedies the hockey world has suffered this past season. In it’s annual tribute to the fallen athletes of the year, the deaths of Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien, Wade Belak, and the entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team were not mentioned in any way. Please excuse me when I say that that’s fucking disgraceful.
You may not own the rights to the NHL, or cover hockey on a regular basis, or care about the NHL in any way at all, but you have a duty as the premier sports news outlet to give these athletes the recognition they deserve. It is shameful that the deaths of three NHL players and an ENTIRE KHL team apparantly wasn’t worth the time or effort to place into your tribute video.
I can only hope for a public apology to be issued. However, now that I see that ESPN is apathetic to the wishes and needs of the hockey world, I won’t be holding my breath. What a shame.
Now I never saw this movie like so many sports fans, but I figured when it was on demand that it was as good a time as any. It’s crass, vulgar and pretty much everything about it wouldn’t have ever been made in the modern era.
Which is what makes Slapshot so great. It’s a product of its..
EXCUSE ME, it’s the Charlestown Chiefs. Based on the Johnstown Jets, the changed to Johnstown Chiefs after the movie. Sheesh. Don’t make me get the Hanson brothers…
So excited. Its against the Jets, which is ironic, since I want to go to college in Atlanta and the Thrashers were my in to hockey. Now I’d have to drive four hours to Nashville. Oh well.
But I’m still so excited!
HELLZ YEAH
You will be forever missed, and loved unconditionally. RIP:(
